The security atmosphere in various cities of Kurdistan has intensified. Reports indicate the deployment of numerous checkpoints and tight monitoring of vehicle movements—especially cargo trucks—at the entry and exit points of cities.
According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, security forces in Mahabad have set up checkpoints at three main routes:
• The Mahabad exit near the traffic police station toward Orumiyeh,
• The exit near the dam wall at the beginning of the Mahabad–Piranshahr road,
• And the exit toward Sardasht.
At these locations, they have been stopping vehicles, checking drivers’ mobile phones and identification documents.
Well-informed sources told Hana that security agents have been seizing vehicles and even searching personal phones without any court orders. Additionally, officers have been interrogating individuals about their personal relationships and whether they have relatives abroad. They have also asked if the individuals have shared any information about the country’s internal situation with people outside Iran in recent days.
