According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization:
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, two civil activists from Sanandaj—Hekmat Saeedi and Armin Khodamoradi—went on a hunger strike in protest against their ongoing legal uncertainty and the complete denial of their basic rights as detainees, following two months of unlawful detention.
These activists were arrested on Friday, May 16, 2025, during raids by security forces on their private residences, without the presentation of any judicial warrant. They were initially transferred to the security detention center of the Kurdistan Intelligence Department, and after 45 days, they were moved to Qorveh Prison.
Hana Human Rights Organization expresses grave concern about the health condition of these two individuals and holds the Prosecutor of Kurdistan Province and the Director General of Intelligence of the province directly responsible for their safety. Hana affirms that the detention center of the Kurdistan Intelligence Department is among the most notorious security facilities in the country. Security agents in this facility are known to use torture and various forms of degrading and inhumane treatment to extract confessions from political and ideological detainees.
Since the establishment of the Ministry of Intelligence in 1983, this detention center has been used to detain political prisoners. Despite numerous cases of torture and the deaths of many political detainees within its walls, the facility has never been inspected or monitored by any independent international body.
