Hunger Strike by Pejman Soltani in Protest Against the Freezing of Bank Accounts

According to a report by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Pejman Soltani, a political prisoner from Bukan who has been sentenced to death on charges of murder, has recently gone on a hunger strike in Orumiyeh Central Prison.

According to informed sources, the hunger strike was launched in response to the freezing of a bank account that had been set up to collect blood money in order to obtain the victim’s family’s consent. The report states that the family of the victim has agreed to grant their consent. However, despite this, the account created for public donations has been blocked by security agencies, and the Soltani family has so far been unable to access the funds.

Previously, Hana Human Rights Organization had also reported on the harsh conditions of Mr. Soltani’s detention, including prolonged solitary confinement and violent treatment.
