Herniated lumbar disc of a Kurdish civil activist caused by prison authorities’ negligence

Based on reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Fouad Moradi, a Kurdish civil activist from the village of “Kilekabud” in Divandareh County, has suffered a herniated lumbar disc due to poor detention conditions and the lack of medical care by prison authorities.

This activist sustained the injury after repeatedly warning about his deteriorating health and requesting medical attention, but prison officials had denied him access to a doctor.

Fouad Moradi was re-arrested on June 15, 2025, and spent 32 days in Shahramfar Prison in Sanandaj, followed by 10 days in Divandareh Prison. He was eventually released on bail on July 22, 2025, temporarily and for the purpose of receiving treatment.
