Hana report on the killing of Rubina Aminian a Kurdish girl during the Tehran protests

The Hana Human Rights Organization, based on credible information received, has opened an investigation into the case of Rubina Aminian, a 22-year-old Kurdish student at Shahid Beheshti University, who was killed during the recent protests in Tehran. Rubina Aminian was originally from Marivan, and her family resides in Kermanshah.

According to sources close to the family, after Rubina Aminian was killed, security forces initially refused to hand over her body. Her family was only able to obtain permission for identification after persistent efforts. Sources report that during the identification process, the family was confronted with the bodies of dozens, and according to some reports, hundreds of young people aged 18 to 20, raising serious concerns about the scale of violence used against protesters.

After identifying her body, Rubina Aminian’s family transferred it to Kermanshah as quickly as possible to prevent further interference. However, upon arrival, security forces established a heavy presence around the family home, effectively preventing any public funeral or mourning ceremony.

According to this report, the family was forced under intense security pressure to bury their daughter without holding any mourning ceremony or allowing free public participation. These actions constitute a clear violation of the right to human dignity, the right to mourn, and the right to observe cultural and religious funeral practices.

The Hana Human Rights Organization emphasizes that withholding bodies, confronting families with multiple victims, applying security pressure, and preventing mourning ceremonies are clear examples of inhuman and degrading treatment. Under international human rights law, these actions may be considered part of a systematic pattern of violations against families of protest victims.

Hana calls on international human rights bodies to treat this case as a serious instance of violations of the right to life, human dignity, and the right to mourn freely, and to investigate it with particular attention.
