According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization:
Ten citizens from Piranshahr, who were arrested by security forces several weeks ago, remain in arbitrary detention. During this period, not only has no information been provided regarding the reasons for their arrest or the charges against them, but security agencies have also threatened their families, warning them against publicizing the situation of their detained relatives.
A knowledgeable source informed Hana that security agencies have warned some of the detainees’ families that any attempt to raise awareness about their loved ones could result in severe consequences, including arrest. Additionally, the families have been instructed not to publicize the detainees’ release if they are freed.
The names of the ten detained citizens are as follows:
“Sadegh Kurdi, Keyvan Asaseh, Jiger Mojahedi, Farhad Pelleh, Hiwa Shojaei, Morad Ostowar, Ne’mat Ahmadnejad, Mohammad Sohrabi, Anwar Ebrahimi, and Fardin Mahmoudi,” all from Piranshahr.
According to received information, these detainees have been denied access to legal representation, family visits, and even phone calls. This situation constitutes a clear violation of fundamental prisoner rights and contradicts both Iran’s domestic laws and its international human rights obligations.
These arrests come amid a rising wave of arbitrary detentions in various cities across Kurdistan in recent months. Security forces have intensified pressure on Kurdish citizens through arrests without judicial warrants, threats against families, and a general lack of accountability regarding detainees’ conditions.
The Hana Human Rights Organization calls for:
• Transparency regarding the status of these ten detained citizens and an official statement on the charges against them.
• Respect for legal rights of detainees, including access to legal counsel, family visits, and phone calls.
• An end to threats and pressure on families to prevent them from speaking out.
• An immediate end to arbitrary arrests and the unconditional release of individuals detained for their civil, political, or social activities.
The ongoing arbitrary detention of these ten Kurdish citizens from Piranshahr, along with the increasing pressure on their families to remain silent, is part of a broader campaign of repression against Kurdish citizens and a systematic violation of human rights in Iran. This situation demands an urgent response from international human rights organizations and increased pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran to uphold human rights and fundamental freedoms.
