Hana Human Rights Organization Report: Alikhan Zamani Killed by Officers of Police Station No. 14 in Ilam

According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, a Kurdish citizen named Alikhan Zamani, from the village of Haft Cheshmeh (a suburb of Ilam), was shot and killed by officers from Police Station No. 14 in the city of Ilam.

Based on Hana’s investigation, the officers raided the Zamani family home without presenting a court order or any clear charges, allegedly to arrest a family member named Mohsen Zamani. During the raid, Mohsen was injured in a confrontation with the officers and attempted to flee, but was subsequently arrested.

During the same incident, and for reasons that remain unclear, Alikhan Zamani, Mohsen’s brother, was shot at point-blank range by one of the officers present—identified as Ebrahim Bagheri—and died as a result.

It is worth noting that Alikhan Zamani was 46 years old, married, and the father of two children.

Hana has also learned that following the incident, the Zamani family has come under pressure from security agencies and has been threatened and barred from sharing details of the killing with the public. To date, no official statement or explanation has been issued by the police or judicial authorities regarding this extrajudicial killing.

The Hana Human Rights Organization strongly condemns this unlawful killing and calls on provincial authorities—particularly the Prosecutor General of Ilam Province—to provide answers and ensure accountability for the killing of this Kurdish citizen.
