Hana Concern Over the Illegal Transfer of Kurdish Political Prisoners Soran Qasemi and Pejman Soltani to the Ward for Dangerous Criminals in Uromieyh Prison

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Pejman Soltani and Ali (Soran) Qasemi, two Kurdish political prisoners held in Uromieyh Central Prison, have been transferred for more than 27 days to Ward 2 for general crimes in this prison. Despite repeated protests by their families and repeated promises from judicial authorities and prison officials, they have not yet been returned to the political prisoners’ ward.

Informed sources told Hana that the conditions in the general crimes ward are highly unsuitable, and the psychological pressures and restrictions imposed on them have worsened the mental health of both prisoners.

Previously, the families of these prisoners, by filing complaints and approaching judicial bodies, had demanded an end to their transfer to wards unrelated to their political charges. However, no effective action has been taken so far.

Furthermore, Rezgar Beigzadeh Babamiri, another political prisoner, was transferred to the general ward about a month before Soltani and Qasemi, and is currently being held in the same ward with them.
