According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Kaveh Ahmadzadeh, a former political prisoner who was serving a new sentence in Bukan Central Prison, suffered a cardiac arrest and died in recent days due to neglect by prison authorities regarding his critical health condition.
According to Hana sources, Ahmadzadeh’s body was first transferred to the Forensic Medicine Center in Orumiyeh for an autopsy and, after several days, was handed over to his family today, Monday, December 8, 2025, without any explanation about the cause of death.
A source close to the family told Hana that prison officials delayed notifying them of his death by approximately 24 hours.
Over the past years, Kaveh Ahmadzadeh had spent nearly ten years in Iranian prisons due to his political activities.
The Hana Human Rights Organization considers the negligence and lack of proper care by prison authorities as one of the main factors leading to this incident.
