The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that on the evening of Sunday, June 29, 2025, a young married woman named Bayaneh Fakhritabar , originally from the village of Khornj in Piranshahr and resident of the same city, was shot and killed by her brother.
According to Hana’s investigations, the motive for the murder was what is referred to as “honor.”
Witnesses stated that this young woman was killed by her brother solely on suspicion of having an extramarital romantic relationship.
Hana Human Rights Organization condemns this act of femicide and considers the lack of adequate legal and protective mechanisms for women as one of the key reasons behind the ongoing femicides and violence against women in Iran.
