According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, a man named Mohammad Naghi Azadi, from Ilam, killed his wife and her sister using a handgun after being released from prison, and then committed suicide.
The victims have been identified as Sedigheh Rostami (his wife) and Leila Rostami (his wife’s sister).
According to informed sources, Mohammad Naghi Azadi had a repeated history of domestic violence and had severely assaulted his previous wife in a former marriage. Over the past two years, he had been imprisoned on related charges. Following his release, his second wife decided to separate from him. On the day of the incident, Azadi forcibly entered the home of Leila Rostami, who had been supporting Sedigheh during the separation process.
According to the report, he first shot and killed Leila Rostami, then murdered his wife Sedigheh, and finally ended his own life by shooting himself.
