Exile of Three Kurdish Political Prisoners from Abdanan to Prisons in Kerman, Mashhad, and Zahedan

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization:
On Sunday, May 4, 2025, three Kurdish political prisoners from Abdanan — Vahid Chavaran, Naser Rezaei, and Mohammad Hossein Haseli — were exiled from Ilam Central Prison to the prisons of Zahedan, Kerman, and Mashhad.

According to received reports, the three had previously been sentenced to 12 years of exile-imprisonment each, in connection with the revolutionary uprising “Woman, Life, Freedom”.

They were arrested in the summer of 2023 by security forces without any judicial warrant, and have since been held without access to legal representation or a fair trial. Their sentences were issued by Branch One of the Ilam Criminal Court on charges such as “disturbing public order,” “gathering and colluding to commit a crime against national security,” and “show of force with weapons.”

According to informed sources, all three prisoners have been subjected to physical and psychological torture — including the forced administration of psychiatric drugs to Vahid Chavaran, which has caused him severe behavioral issues.

These prisoners had previously gone on hunger strike and sewn their lips shut in protest against the unfair judicial process.

The Hana Human Rights Organization considers the violent conduct of security forces during arrest, forced confessions, denial of medical treatment, and exile to remote prisons to be a clear violation of fundamental human rights — particularly the prohibition of torture, the right to a fair trial, and human dignity.
