According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, at dawn today, Monday, August 26, 2024, the execution of a 25-year-old Baloch prisoner named Barkat Ali Sanjrani, son of Mohammad Hayat, married, and a resident of Zahedan, was carried out in Zahedan Central Prison.
According to received reports, this prisoner was arrested four years ago on charges of murder following the death of an individual during a group conflict and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As reported by Hal Vash News Agency, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, this prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution. However, on Wednesday, August 7, he was returned to the prison's general ward with a 10-day extension to seek the victim's family's pardon.
After being returned to the general ward, Barkat Ali Sanjrani recorded a voice message during a phone call in which he addressed the public, declaring that he was "innocent."
