Judges Violating Human Rights
Eiman Afshari, the head of Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran, has, based on available information, issued numerous death sentences for political activists, particularly Kurdish political prisoners, during his tenure in various branches of the Revolutionary Court. These rulings have been made in blatant violation of human rights standards for a fair trial. He unlawfully and unjustly sentenced Pakhshan Azizi to death, a ruling that was subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court. The death sentences for four Kurdish political prisoners — Vafa Azarbar, Mohsen Mazloum, Mohammad Faramarzi, and Pejman Fathi — were also issued by him and carried out in February 2024.
