According to reports received, in recent days six Kurdish citizens — Sediq Abasnejad, from the Qaleh Holakukhan village; Behzad Barjasteh, 32, and Keyvan Barjasteh, along with Nima Ghorbanzadeh, 28, all from the Ebrahim Abad village; and Seyed Khalegh Rahimi and Mobin Majidzadeh, 28, both from the Gawmesh-Goli village in Miandoab County — were each sentenced to three months and one day of ta’zir (discretionary) imprisonment by Branch 101 of the Miandoab Criminal Court II, presided over by Judge Valaei.
According to Hana’s sources, the charge brought against these citizens — “propaganda against the regime” — was based on their participation in the funeral of a mother who had lost several of her children at the hands of the Islamic Republic’s forces, as well as for speaking with a political activist residing abroad.
In total, the six Kurdish citizens were sentenced to 18 months and 6 days of ta’zir imprisonment. According to the ruling, they have 20 days from the date of notification to appeal the verdict.
Reports further indicate that on February 24, 2025, these individuals were arrested at their homes by Miandoab Intelligence Department agents. After a month of detention at the Intelligence detention center, they were transferred to Orumiyeh Prison and were later temporarily released on bail set at 1.5 billion tomans each.
