Death Sentence Issued for Mohsen Eslamkhah a Detainee of the “Woman Life Freedom” Movement

Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Mohsen Eslamkhah, a citizen from Bukan and a detainee of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, has been sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the report, Mohsen Eslamkhah—who was 16 years old at the time of his arrest and is currently 19—was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court on the charge of “Moharebeh” (enmity against God). Previously, two of his co-defendants, Mohammad Faraji and Rauf Sheikh-Maroufi, faced similar sentences in the same case.
Documentation indicates that Eslamkhah had fled to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq due to pressure and pursuit by security agencies, but returned to Bukan in June 2025. He was arrested on the 11th of that month, transferred to prison, and released on bail after 11 days. The death sentence was officially communicated to him on February 17.
The charges attributed to him include:

  • Moharebeh (Enmity against God)
  • Mofsed-e-filarz (Corruption on Earth)
  • Complicity in intentional murder
  • Propaganda against the state
  • Membership in opposition groups
  • Possession and carrying of weapons
  • Disturbing public order

An informed source told Hana that during his detention at the Intelligence Ministry’s detention center, Eslamkhah was placed under severe pressure to provide forced confessions regarding participation in the murder of a Basij member.
Expressing deep concern over the continued execution of death sentences against political defendants and protesters in Iran, Hana Human Rights Organization emphasizes that the Islamic Republic continues to use the death penalty despite reports of serious violations of due process and fair trial requirements in these cases.
