According to Hana Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, a worker identified as Bashir Azizi, 47 years old and a resident of Deyvar village, Sarvabad, lost his life after falling from a height while working.
Reports indicate that Bashir Azizi was employed in Kalar, Kurdistan Region, where he tragically lost his life due to the lack of workplace safety.
It is important to note that poverty and unemployment have led to an increase in migrant workers from Kurdistan. Despite the lack of workplace safety in Iraqi Kurdistan, workers are forced to take on low-paying, grueling jobs. This exhaustion and unsafe conditions often result in tragic accidents like this. Moreover, these workers are not provided with any form of employment insurance.
