Death of a Kolbar Due to Hypothermia at the Baneh Border

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, a 30-year-old kolbar named “Edris Nadri,” a married man and father of one child from the village of “Qol Estir” in Baneh County, lost his life due to hypothermia in the highlands of Nanur, Baneh.

A reliable source told the Hana Human Rights Organization that Edris Nadri, along with five other kolbars identified as “Fakhr-e din” (last name unknown) from Soran, “Barzan” (last name unknown) from the village of Khoriaw, “Mohammad” and “Bakhtiar” (last names unknown), both from Haware Khul, and “Jalal” (last name unknown) from Haft Tash, Baneh County, were caught in snow and a blizzard in the “Hojreh Faqiyan” mountain area near the Nanur border in Baneh.

Edris Nadri became separated from the group, lost his way, and tragically succumbed to hypothermia.

The source added that one of the kolbars is in critical condition and has been hospitalized at Salah-e din Hospital in Baneh. The body of Edris Nadri has also been transferred to Salah-e din Hospital.

It is important to note that the discriminatory policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran have led to the underdevelopment of Kurdistan. Due to unemployment and lack of viable income sources, many residents are forced to engage in dangerous activities such as kolbari.
