Continued security pressure in Divandareh: arrest of Reza Pahlavani and phone summons of several citizens

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, Reza Pahlavani, a citizen from Divandareh County, was arrested by security forces.

Informed sources stated that he was detained at his workplace by plainclothes security agents and transferred to an undisclosed location without the presentation of a judicial warrant.

Reports further indicate that in recent days, a number of residents of this city, particularly those with a prior history of arrest during the nationwide protests of 2022 have been summoned by security institutions through phone calls. During these calls and subsequent follow-ups, the citizens were subjected to threats, security pressure, and warnings against participating in any form of protest activity.

According to the report, as part of efforts to create an atmosphere of fear and to prevent the emergence of public protests in Divandareh, security agencies have been continuously contacting several young people from the city by phone and threatening them.

Expressing serious concern over the intensification of the security climate in Divandareh County, the Hana Human Rights Organization emphasizes that phone summonses have no legal basis, and under legal principles and existing laws, citizens are not obligated to report to security institutions without receiving an official and lawful summons.
