Nearly 28 months have passed since the enforced disappearance of Osman Mameh, a 55-year-old citizen of Bukan, during the Women, Life, Freedom movement. Government institutions continue to deny responsibility for his arrest and have provided no information regarding his fate.
Osman Mameh, son of Hassan, married and a resident of Bukan, was arrested by an unidentified security agency on November 18, 2022, after leaving his home during the revolutionary Women, Life, Freedom movement and was transferred to an unknown location.
According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, in such cases, the local prosecutor is responsible for responding to the family’s concerns and must issue the necessary orders to security agencies to clearly state the legal status of Osman Mameh. However, despite the family’s repeated inquiries, the Bukan prosecutor’s office has not provided any response.
Hana Human Rights Organization expresses serious concern and, based on Article 2 of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, accuses the government of Iran of abducting and forcibly disappearing Osman Mameh. The organization demands:
• Accountability from the Islamic Republic regarding this case,
• Immediate access to legal services, family, and a lawyer for Osman Mameh,
• Urgent provision of healthcare services for him.
Osman Mameh’s son and wife, in a conversation with Hana Human Rights Organization, have shared their experiences and are urgently calling on human rights organizations to address the enforced disappearance of Osman Mameh.
