Hana has learned that on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, several police officers unlawfully entered the premises of Boroujerdi Boys’ High School, located in the Farhangian Town Square of Bukan. The officers insulted and threatened students who were wearing Kurdish clothing and the traditional Jamana shawl, warning them of possible arrest.
According to informed sources, the police officers declared upon entering the school that they intended to arrest all students wearing Kurdish attire. In the schoolyard, they proceeded to verbally abuse the students, using language inappropriate for an educational environment. They also ordered the students wearing Kurdish clothing to identify themselves and stand separately from the others.
A source told Hana that the officers’ aggressive and threatening behavior created a climate of fear and intimidation among the students. Witnesses reported that the police eventually left the school premises without making any arrests, following the intervention and pleas of the principal and vice principal, who assured the officers that such incidents would not happen again.
Hana Human Rights Organization strongly condemns this blatant violation of the school’s sanctity and the intimidation of students by police forces. Even under domestic laws, such as the Prohibition of Military and Security Forces’ Presence in Educational Centers Act and related directives from the Ministry of Education, the entry of security and military personnel into schools is strictly forbidden. However, security forces have repeatedly violated school premises during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, frequently abducting students.
