The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that on Saturday, September 20, 2025, Kurdish civil activist Babak Bahrami was transferred to Marivan Central Prison to serve his prison sentence on charges of “insulting the founder and current leader of the Islamic Republic.”
According to an informed source, Babak Bahrami is married and also cares for his elderly mother. Based on Hana’s investigations, he was sentenced by the Marivan Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ehsan Rouhi, to 96 days in prison on the charge of “insulting the leader,” following a case fabricated by security forces.
It is worth noting that Babak Bahrami is the brother of Kurdish journalist, filmmaker, and political activist Jamshid Bahrami. During the proceedings, this family connection was unlawfully used by security forces and judicial authorities against him, without any legal justification.
