Arrest and Transfer of Benyamin Rahimpour to Sanandaj Prison to Serve Prison Sentence

According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, Benyamin Rahimpour, 33, son of Mousa, married and father of a child, originally from the village of “Avihang” in the suburbs of Sanandaj and a resident of the city, was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after being summoned to Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Criminal Enforcement Office to serve his prison sentence.

This Kurdish citizen had previously been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to one year of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the regime.” His trial was held on February 10, 2025, and the verdict was officially communicated to him on February 14.

Benyamin Rahimpour was initially arrested on January 21, 2025, when more than ten security agents violently raided his store in Sanandaj. He was then transferred to the Shahramfar IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Sanandaj. Following this, security forces stormed his family’s home without presenting a court order, threatening his family and confiscating personal belongings, including his phone and laptop.

He was held for 19 days in solitary detention without access to a lawyer, visits, or the ability to contact his family. On January 31, 2025, his family’s attempt to inquire about his condition was met with threats, insults, and even the confiscation of their phone by security forces. He was temporarily released on February 8 after posting bail of 5 Million Tomans and placing the deed to his store as collateral.

It is worth noting that Benyamin Rahimpour had previously been arrested on May 3, 2020, along with his brother Tareq Rahimpour. On July 30, 2020, Tareq was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Saeedi, to four years of suspended imprisonment for “collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties,” and to one year of discretionary imprisonment based on a complaint from the
