Hana: Arman Shadivand, a singer and composer from Dareh Shahr, Ilam, has been sentenced by Branch 2 of the Ilam Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Dariush Piri, to 16 months in prison on charges of “insulting the leader of the Iranian government” and 8 months for “propaganda against the regime.”
According to received information, the court session for this artist’s case was held in absentia on January 19, 2025.
Based on Article 15 of the Law on Reducing Sentences for Discretionary Imprisonment, passed in 2020, and in accordance with multiple-offense regulations, the most severe punishment will be enforced.
Mr. Shadivand was summoned to Branch 2 of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Public and Revolutionary Court of Darreh Shahr in November 2024 and was temporarily released on bail on November 24, 2024, from the city’s Mayepareh Prison until the completion of judicial proceedings.
Hana Human Rights Organization considers this sentence a blatant violation of fundamental human rights, freedom of expression, and an act of repression against cultural and artistic activists. The organization urges the international community to pay attention to the plight of artists under pressure in Iran.
