The Kurdistan Freedom Party announced in a statement that “in the early hours of Wednesday, 21 January 2026, at around 5:30 a.m., one of the party’s bases in the Kurdistan Region was targeted in an explosive attack carried out by a drone.”
According to the statement, as a result of this attack, one of the party’s Peshmerga fighters, “Mozafar Mohammadzadeh,” lost his life, and another member of the party was injured.
It is worth noting that the Kurdistan Freedom Party, in its statement, identified the Islamic Republic of Iran as the perpetrator of this attack.
As of the time of writing this report, no further details have been released.
