A young kolbar from Baneh shot dead by direct fire from military forces

According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, in the early hours of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, a young kolbar identified as Khaled Mohammadi, 23 years old, son of Saeed and Sargol, and a resident of Anjineh village in Baneh County, lost his life after being shot directly by military forces stationed at the Shabdin border area of Baneh.

According to the received information, the military forces opened fire on the kolbar without any prior warning.

This young kolbar was engaged and had turned to kolbari as a means to support his family’s livelihood.

It is worth noting that, as of the time this report was prepared, the body of Khaled Mohammadi remains at the hospital and has not yet been handed over to his family.

Based on statistics gathered by Hana Human Rights Organization, the ongoing pattern of direct gunfire at kolbars in the Kurdish border regions—without adherence to legal procedures or prior warnings—remains a serious concern for human rights defenders. The repetition of such incidents highlights the lack of safety guarantees and legal protection for the impoverished kolbars of these areas.
