According to Hana and citing the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, four teachers in Divandareh — Omid Shahmohammadi, Hiwa Qoreishi, Kaveh Mohammadzadeh, and Parviz Ahsani — after being arrested during teachers’ union gatherings on June 15, 2022, and enduring 76 days in solitary confinement, have now, on August 20, 2025, been handed definitive dismissal orders from their jobs.
In addition, Omid Shahmohammadi had previously received a suspended five-year prison sentence.
In Sanandaj, seven other teachers have also been subjected to various administrative and disciplinary rulings. Their names and sentences are as follows:
• Majid Karimi (MA in Political Science – 23 years of service): Permanent dismissal and disqualification from public employment
• Ghiyas Nemati (MA in Clinical Psychology – 17 years of service): Permanent dismissal from the Ministry of Education
• Salah Hajimirzaei (MA in History – 26 years of service): One-year suspension
• Nasrin Karimi (MA in Sociology – 27 years of service): Forced retirement with a two-rank demotion
• Leila Zarei (BA in Primary Education – 30 years of service): Removal from school vice-principalship and forced retirement with a one-rank demotion
• Feysal Nouri (MA in Mathematics – 19 years of service): Exile to Kermanshah Province for five years
• Another teacher has also received a definitive dismissal order, but their name has not been disclosed for family reasons.
Furthermore, in Saqqez, three members of the Teachers’ Union Association have faced administrative rulings. According to these decisions, Shahram Karimi has been suspended for six months, Loghman Allahmoradi suspended for one year, and Soleyman Abdi forced into retirement with a two-rank demotion.
