A Kurdish worker lost his life after falling into an elevator shaft

According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Alireza Mousapour, 40, son of Hamid, originally from the Kapik village in Salmas County and a resident of the Koshtargah district of Orumiyeh, lost his life in a workplace accident while installing an elevator in a building located in the Fazlay 1 neighborhood.

Reports indicate that he fell from the fourth floor into the elevator shaft while working and died instantly due to the severity of his injuries.

It should be noted that in recent years, due to the lack of workplace safety measures and employers’ negligence toward essential safety and protection standards, the number of workplace accidents in Kurdistan and other parts of Iran has been steadily increasing.

Under international human rights and labor conventions and standards, governments are obligated to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all workers.
