Death Sentences of Saeed and Hamid Najafi Carried Out at Qezel Hesar Prison: Two Brothers Convicted in a Joint Case

According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, early on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the death sentences of Saeed Najafi and Hamid Najafi, two brothers from Kuhdasht in Lorestan province, were carried out in Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

These two brothers had been sentenced to death in a joint case on the charge of “Moharebeh” (enmity against God) through armed robbery. The execution of their sentences had previously been halted in May/June to provide an opportunity to secure the consent of the plaintiffs and victims, but ultimately, the sentences issued against both men were carried out.

Concurrently, an unverified report has been published regarding the manner in which these two prisoners died. According to statements attributed to one of their relatives, NOPO special forces intervened prior to the execution, and Saeed and Hamid Najafi were killed by gunfire.

The Hana Human Rights Organization emphasizes that it is currently unable to independently verify the claim regarding the shooting and the exact circumstances of the deaths of these two prisoners. As of the publication of this report, the judiciary and other official authorities of the Islamic Republic have not officially released details concerning the execution of the sentences or the reported shooting of these two brothers.
