According to information received by HANA Human Rights Organization, Farhad Baghcheghi, a Kurdish citizen from Bojnurd, has been sentenced by Branch 103 of the city’s Criminal Court to three years in ta’zir imprisonment and 74 lashes.
The verdict, issued in absentia in late July 2026, cites charges including disrupting public order and security through participation in gatherings, and defying and clashing with government officers in the course of their duties, according to information received.
Farhad Baghcheghi was arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant on January 8, 2026, amid the nationwide protests. After roughly two months in security detention facilities and Bojnurd Prison, part of it spent in solitary confinement, he was temporarily released on bail of five billion tomans pending trial.
According to information received by HANA, he was denied access to a lawyer and family visits throughout his detention, and was never given the opportunity to have legal representation during the proceedings against his case case.
