According to reports published by IranWire, on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, Elahe Mohammadi, a social affairs journalist who, alongside Niloufar Hamedi, played a key role in publicizing the state-sanctioned killing of Zhina (Mahsa) Amini in 2022, was once again arrested by security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.
This arrest comes despite the fact that Mohammadi had previously served 17 months in prison for covering Zhina Amini’s funeral in Saqqez. According to her lawyer, Shahab Mirlohi, her previous case had been officially closed under a pardon decree, yet she has now been detained again despite her prior case being resolved.
