According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, 4 January 2026, two brothers—Dr. Nabi Omidi, Associate Professor of Economics at illam University, and Dr. Ali Omidi, a political activist, both residents of illam—were arrested by security forces.
According to this report, the arrests took place at their family home and were carried out without the presentation of any judicial warrant and with the use of violence.
It is worth noting that nearly 40 days after their arrest, there is still no precise information available regarding their place of detention, the charges brought against them, or their current condition.
