The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Ardeshir Zarei, a 40-year-old father of three young children, a follower of the Yarsan faith, originally from Darvit village, Dalahu County, and a resident of Saveh, lost his life on Monday, 5 January 2026.
According to reports, while suffering from a heart condition, he had visited a doctor and was returning from a pharmacy when he was shot from behind in the street by repressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and killed.
Based on received information, following Mr. Zarei’s killing, security and repressive forces demanded a sum of up to one billion tomans from his family in exchange for handing over his body.
Ultimately, the family was forced to pay this amount, and the burial ceremony for Ardeshir Zarei is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 15 January 2026, in Darvit village, Dalahu County, his place of birth.
