Hamid Chapati was released from the Orumiyeh Central Prison with an electronic ankle monitor

Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that on Saturday, 6 December 2025, Hamid Chapati, a 37-year-old civil activist from Orumiyeh County, was released from Orumiyeh Central Prison with an electronic ankle monitor after serving 88 days.

According to received reports, he will serve the remainder of his sentence outside the prison, under movement restrictions at his home.

This civil activist had been transferred to prison on 18 Shahrivar 1404 (9 September 2025), after being summoned to the Enforcement of Verdicts Office of the Orumiyeh Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office to begin serving his sentence. His sentence had previously been increased to six months of discretionary imprisonment by Branch 23 of the West Azerbaijan Court of Appeals.

It is noteworthy that in Bahman 1403, Hamid Chapati had been sentenced by Branch 2 of the Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court to three months of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of “propaganda against the state.”
