According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Ayoub Javanpour, a civil activist from Saqqez, was temporarily released from the city’s prison on bail of 2 billion rials (approximately 200 million tomans).
According to the received reports, this civil activist has been given one month to carry out his sentence, which includes exile to the city of Bawi in Khuzestan Province, requiring him to leave Saqqez for that location.
Ayoub Javanpour was arrested by security forces on Monday, August 4, 2025, and transferred to Saqqez Prison. This arrest came a day after, on the evening of Sunday, August 3, he was attacked and severely injured by a group of Salafists.
In previous years, Javanpour has been arrested and tortured several times by security agencies. In September 2017, he was detained for participating in a rally in support of the Kurdistan Region’s independence referendum. Later, on August 25, 2022, he was arrested again during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising and was released on bail after some time.
A year later, on June 10, 2023, he was arrested for the third time and, after three months of detention by the Intelligence Department, was transferred to Saqqez Prison. While in prison, Javanpour went on a hunger strike in protest of the execution of four Kurdish political prisoners in January 2024 and was held in solitary confinement for a week.
After one year of imprisonment, Ayoub Javanpour was sentenced to 15 months of exile in the city of Bawi, Khuzestan Province, and three years of imprisonment.
