According to reports and images received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the cities of Divandareh and Saqqez witnessed a widespread strike and the complete closure of markets on the third anniversary of the state killing of Zhina (Mahsa) Amini.
This act of protest took place despite the fact that security forces of the Islamic Republic had, days in advance, surrounded the entrances to these cities and stationed themselves at Zhina Amini’s grave in Aichi Cemetery in order to prevent any memorial gatherings or public presence.
Reports indicate that, despite the heavy security atmosphere, shopkeepers and bazaar merchants in Saqqez and Divandareh shut down their businesses, expressing solidarity with the family of Zhina (Mahsa) Amini and reaffirming their commitment to the slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom.”
In addition, during the early evening hours, protest slogans were heard in the cities of Gohardasht (Karaj) and Sadeghiyeh (Tehran), while in Arak, demonstrators held a silent march to express their dissent.
