Two Kurdish political prisoners from Bukan have been released after serving their sentences

Hana: On Saturday, September 13, 2025, two Kurdish citizens, Hassan Mardani, 67, and Loqman Pishiyar, 60, both from Bukan, were released from the city’s central prison after completing their sentences.

According to the report, the two political prisoners had previously been sentenced by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court (Second Division) to three years in prison each on charges of membership in and collaboration with a Kurdish opposition party. They were transferred to Bukan Central Prison on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, to begin serving their sentences.

The report further states that on August 10, 2023, both men were arrested by security forces and held for 56 days in detention facilities run by the Orumiyeh Intelligence Department. During this time, they were denied access to legal counsel and family visits and subjected to interrogations. They were eventually released on October 8, 2023, on a temporary basis after posting bail of one billion tomans.

It should be noted that throughout their 19 months and 13 days of imprisonment, the two men were denied the right to furlough. Despite Hassan Mardani’s heart and prostate conditions and repeated requests for medical leave, security authorities consistently rejected the applications.
