According to received reports, on Sunday, May 25, 2025, Saman Karimi—a former political prisoner previously sentenced to death—and his wife Farzaneh Rashidi, a student at Payam Noor University in Baneh, were violently arrested by security forces in Baneh without the presentation of a judicial warrant.
According to sources of Hana Human Rights Organization, security forces first arrested Saman Karimi on one of the streets of Baneh using excessive force. They then raided his home, where they arrested his wife, Farzaneh Rashidi, and carried out a search of the residence.
During the raid, security agents also confiscated several personal belongings of the couple and took them away.
