According to the Hana Human Rights Organization, in the early hours of Sunday, May 25, 2025, a young Kolbar identified as Mohammad Rahimi, son of Ghafour and Tabibeh, and a resident of the village of Banevareh in Paveh County, was shot and killed by Iranian military forces in the Doroleh border region, located in the Nowsud district.
Mohammad Rahimi was married and the father of a young child.
According to Hana sources, military forces opened fire on the Kolbar without any prior warning. Mr. Rahimi was transferred to Paveh Hospital but succumbed to his injuries due to the severity of the gunshot wounds.
This incident occurred as Kolbars—cross-border laborers—continue to endure extremely harsh and dangerous conditions in the border regions of Kurdistan in order to provide for their families. Despite the risks, many are forced into this line of work due to widespread poverty and lack of economic opportunities.
