Hana has learned that on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, a woman identified as “Ghazaleh Hodoudi,” the daughter of Yousef and Touran, suburb of Sanandaj, was set on fire at her workplace by her suitor. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries (third-degree burns) on the evening of Thursday, January 2,2025, at Kowsar Hospital in Sanandaj.
Ghazaleh Hodoudi was 27 years old and the mother of an 11-year-old daughter.
According to Hana’s investigation, the preparator, her suitor, arrived at Ghazaleh’s small tailor shop on the afternoon of Wednesday. December 25, 2024, and, in the most brutal manner, set the shop on fire using gasoline. The flames spread rapidly, also engulfing the perpetrator, causing burns to him as well.
The Hana Human Rights Organization strongly condemns this heinous murder and holds the government’s gender apartheid policies and the lack of effective protective laws for women as the primary causes of femicide in Iran.
