Hana has learned that prison authorities in Orumiyeh have increased pressure on political prisoners for unclear reasons.

Since 2 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, despite the cold weather, prison officials intentionally cut off hot water in the bathrooms and toilets and turned off the heating system (radiators).

A source familiar with the prison staff informed Hana: “The prison food is getting less and less in quality every day, and sometimes it is spoiled and moldy. The prices of goods in the prison store have been excessively increased, and if prisoners protest, they are met with verbal abuse from the storekeeper. These pressures are intensified for the political prisoners in the ward.”

Hana, while reporting this, calls for an investigation into the situation of the political prisoners in Orumiyeh Prison. It is worth noting that Orumiyeh Central Prison is one of the most notorious prisons in Iran in terms of human rights and prisoners’ rights violations.
