According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization: at dawn on Thursday, December 5, 2024, the death sentence of Ali Khaleqi Farghani, a 22-year-old prisoner from Mashhad and the son of Mohsen and Ladan, was carried out in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on his birthday.
Mr. Mohsen Khaleqi Farghani, Ali’s father, stated in an interview with Hana colleagues:
“On March 27, 2022, during a street altercation, at least 12 individuals attacked my son Ali and his friend. In the course of this conflict, two people were killed, and Ali was severely injured in the neck with a sharp weapon (knife), resulting in him falling into a coma for two months.”
Mr. Khaleqi Farghani further added:
“After my son came out of the coma, he was immediately taken to the police intelligence unit and, under torture, confessed to the murder of both individuals. However, after reviewing CCTV footage, the victims’ families saw that Ali had not committed the murders and stated, ‘Ali was young and didn’t commit the act, so why did he confess?’”
