According to received reports, in recent days, the prison sentences of two Kurdish citizens from Piranshahr, named Jamal Alizadeh and Esmail Nabizadeh, have been converted to open prison, allowing them to serve their sentences outside of prison.
According to a source, Esmail Nabizadeh’s request for open prison was approved upon posting a bail of 5 billion tomans.
Jamal Alizadeh was sentenced to 30 months in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad, presided over by Judge Ojaghloo, in April 2023, on charges of "collaborating with hostile media."
Mr. Alizadeh began serving his sentence at Naqadeh Prison on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
This civil activist was arrested by government forces at his home on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, and then transferred to the Orumieh Intelligence Detention Center for interrogation. He was eventually released temporarily from Naqadeh Central Prison on February 12, 2023, after posting a heavy bail of 3 billion tomans.
Additionally, Esmail Nabizadeh was arrested by security forces on Thursday, September 22, 2022, and transferred to one of the security detention centers in Orumieh for interrogation, and then transferred to Naqadeh Prison.
Esmail Nabizadeh was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad, presided over by Judge Ojaghloo, on charges of "membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government."
