According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, Khezr (Shamal) Rasoul Morovat, a citizen from Mahabad, was arrested and transferred to the central prison in Mahabad to begin serving a one-year prison sentence.
According to the information received, Mr. Rasoul Morovat had previously been sentenced to one year of Ta’zir imprisonment by Branch One of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ahad Sayami, on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
The citizen was arrested by security forces in Mahabad on October 28, 2025, and transferred to a security detention facility. Following the completion of his interrogation, he was transferred to Mahabad Prison on November 16 of the same year. Approximately three months later, he was temporarily released from prison after posting bail of 30 billion rials (3 billion tomans).
It is worth noting that Khezr Rasoul Morovat has previously been arrested and subjected to judicial proceedings due to his activities.
